Highlights from Work Truck Week 2026: product launches, Ford Pro AI and future-focused summits

Discover how 15,646 industry professionals converged at Work Truck Week 2026 to see new commercial vehicles, AI fleet tools and forward-looking education initiatives

The commercial vehicle sector gathered in force at the Indiana Convention Center when Work Truck Week 2026 ran March 10–13. A verified 15,646 industry professionals from 29 countries and all 50 U.S. states attended to evaluate new products, meet suppliers and learn about emerging fleet technologies. The event combined exhibits, briefings and hands-on experiences so attendees could compare diesel, electric and hybrid systems in one place. Produced by NTEA – The Work Truck Association, the week-long program is designed to connect fleet owners, upfitters, manufacturers and equipment suppliers around practical solutions that influence day-to-day operations.

Beyond a typical expo, the program mixed conferences, training and on-site demos to reflect the industry’s rapid change. Exhibitors filled the sold-out show floor — more than 547 companies — presenting solutions from solar charging and no-idle systems to advanced cargo management and durable lighting. Organizers and speakers emphasized that commercial vehicles are central to the broader economy and workforce, a theme echoed across sessions and networking events. Industry leaders used the platform to explain how technology and policy shifts affect fleet budgeting, compliance and long-term planning.

Product reveals and commercial vehicle trends

Several major manufacturers timed announcements for the event, drawing large crowds to their booths. Ram Professional returned to the midsize van segment with the all-new 2027 ProMaster City, while Harbinger introduced the HC Series Cab as a medium-duty, low cab forward model offered in electric and hybrid plug-in variants. Ford Pro launched Ford Pro AI, an intelligent fleet assistant aimed at streamlining maintenance and operations, and rolled out new 2027 Super Duty packages targeting what it calls the Essential Economy—the businesses and workers powering construction, service and logistics. These reveals underlined the market’s push toward mixed powertrain portfolios and smarter fleet management tools.

Shaping the future: summits, education and collaboration

The event’s conference strand spotlighted evolving vehicle architectures and training that will shape fleet decisions. At Green Truck Summit, Ian Hucker of GM Envolve delivered a keynote on the continuing evolution of multi-stage commercial vehicles, and NTEA leadership announced that Green Truck Summit will evolve into Future Truck Summit starting in 2027. NTEA is partnering with NAFA Fleet Management Association to broaden the curriculum so it covers fuels, software, hardware and on-vehicle systems more comprehensively. The goal is to equip fleet managers and specifiers with actionable knowledge on topics from emissions compliance to electrified powertrain selection.

Ride & Drive: hands-on evaluation

The on-site Ride & Drive on March 11 and 12 let attendees sample the latest drivetrains and upfit solutions in real-world conditions. Fifteen companies participated and made 15 vehicles available for driving or ride-alongs, including all-electric vans, chassis cab electrified platforms and internal combustion models fitted with emissions-reduction technology. Subject matter experts were on hand to explain telematics, regenerative braking and fuel optimization features, creating a direct way for fleet decision-makers to compare performance, ergonomics and payload implications before committing to spec changes.

Education, networking and continuing access

The educational schedule covered topics from regulatory compliance and workforce development to upfitting strategies and emerging industry trends. OEMs presented exclusive Chassis Updates while workshops focused on fleet operations and technical specifications. Official networking highlights included the Opening Reception at Lucas Oil Stadium, the Generation Next Leadership Workshop & Networking Reception, and the NTEA Annual Meeting featuring campaign strategists Karl Rove and Jim Messina as keynote speakers. Attendees who purchased conference packages could access selected sessions on-demand through April 20 via the WTW26 planner, providing an extended resource for teams back at the shop.
