The impact of these programs extends beyond major metropolitan areas, with academic and public initiatives contributing to geographical diversification. Over 100 academic programs have been launched in the past five years, primarily driven by central government agencies. Additionally, 70 public programs are enhancing the reach of the incubator-accelerator ecosystem across India.
Corporate and private sector involvement
The private sector has also played a crucial role in this ecosystem. Approximately 75% of corporate programs are concentrated in three key regions, with a strong focus on the BFSI and HiTech sectors. Meanwhile, 87% of private programs are based in established startup hubs, indicating a strategic approach to fostering innovation in high-potential areas.

This approach involves strengthening the core of the ecosystem, increasing private participation, and incentivizing performance to achieve specific targets.

In a notable development, three startups from the AIC Nitte Incubation Centre in Karnataka have been honored with the Grassroots Innovator Recognition 2026.
