Legend Biotech Corporation, the world’s largest standalone cell-therapy firm, announced the debut of its Emerging Leadership & Innovation in Cell Therapy Excellence (ELITE) Program. Designed as an annual grant initiative, the program targets early-career healthcare professionals who are driving novel approaches to treat multiple myeloma. Applications opened on October 1, 2026 and remain available until November 20, 2026, offering a narrow window for innovators to submit proposals that could shape the next generation of CAR-T therapies.
Program overview and governance
The ELITE Program is overseen by an independent steering committee composed of nationally recognised experts in cellular therapy and hematologic malignancies. Members such as Dr. Melissa Alsina, Dr. Ajai Chari, Dr. Rafael Fonseca, Dr. Sundar Jagannath, Dr. Amrita Krishnan, Dr. Yi Lin, and Dr. Saad Usmani provide scientific direction and ensure that the review process remains transparent, rigorous, and free from corporate influence. Their collective expertise guarantees that funded projects meet the highest standards of innovation and clinical relevance.
Grant tracks and selection criteria
Two distinct award categories will be granted each year. The Emerging Educator: Excellence in CAR-T Award targets initiatives that can accelerate clinical practice, research, healthcare delivery, or education surrounding multiple myeloma. The Emerging Innovator: Innovation in CAR-T Award focuses on seed-level ideas—pilot studies, expansion projects, or entirely novel approaches—specifically aimed at this disease. Applicants must demonstrate a clear hypothesis, a feasible experimental plan, and the potential for measurable impact. Selections will be announced in December 2026, and winners will be invited to present their work at a dedicated recognition event in 2027, fostering direct interaction with peers and steering-committee members.
Legend Biotech’s broader cell-therapy mission
Beyond the ELITE Program, Legend Biotech continues to expand its portfolio of transformative treatments. The company’s flagship product, CARVYKTI®, is a one-time CAR-T therapy for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, co-developed with Johnson & Johnson. With a workforce exceeding 3,000 employees, Legend is building an end-to-end cell-therapy ecosystem that aims to improve patient access and unlock the full therapeutic potential of its platform. By investing in emerging talent through ELITE, Legend seeks to seed the pipeline of future breakthroughs that will complement and extend the impact of CARVYKTI.
The ELITE initiative underscores Legend Biotech’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of innovators while advancing its long-term goal of a cure for multiple myeloma. Applicants are encouraged to review eligibility requirements, grant categories, and submission guidelines on the official ELITE website. As the deadline approaches, the company expects a competitive pool of proposals that will drive both scientific discovery and real-world improvements in patient care.
