Dive into the world of Xiaomi's smart home innovations, from health monitors to action cameras, and see how they integrate seamlessly into your daily routine.

Xiaomi Smart Home Products: A Comprehensive Overview of the Mi Ecosystem

Xiaomi has established itself as a pioneer in the smart home industry, offering a wide range of products that cater to various aspects of daily life. These devices, known as Mi Ecosystem products, are developed by third-party manufacturers in partnership with Xiaomi and are managed through the Xiaomi Home app. Unlike MIJIA products, which are manufactured directly by Xiaomi, these ecosystem products bring together innovative solutions from different creators under one cohesive platform.

The Xiaomi Home app serves as the central hub for managing all these smart devices. It facilitates communication between devices, enabling them to connect via WiFi and Bluetooth. While the app is compatible with Amazon Alexa it has faced criticism for its lack of compatibility with Google Home. For some products, such as the Mi camera users need to sync their Mi Home Account with the Google Home app to ensure seamless integration.

Health and Wellness Innovations

Xiaomi’s commitment to health and wellness is evident in its range of smart health devices. The Xiaomi Smart Blood Pressure Monitor launched on 24 September in collaboration with iHealth Labs is a prime example. This device tracks blood pressure, heart rate, and average pulse in real-time, providing users with valuable health insights and recommendations for improvement.

Another notable product is the Mi Smart Scale which measures weight with a precision of 50 grams and tracks BMI when paired with the Mi Fit app. Developed by Huami a company in which Xiaomi has invested, this scale offers seamless integration with both Android and iOS devices, making it a versatile addition to any smart home setup.

Air Quality and Security Solutions

Xiaomi’s focus on air quality is highlighted by the Mi Air Purifier released on 9 December . This device can clean up to 406 cubic meters of air per hour, utilizing HEPA technology to reduce polluting particles from 600 ppm to 2.5 ppm. Equipped with a real-time air quality monitor, the purifier can be synced with a smartphone, allowing users to control it remotely, receive air quality data, and get alerts when the filter needs changing.

Security is another area where Xiaomi excels. The Yi Smart Webcam launched on 29 October offers 720p resolution, a 111-degree wide-angle lens, and the ability to make two-way voice calls. This versatile camera doubles as a webcam for chatting and a security camera with recording capabilities. It automatically records whenever it detects movement, providing an added layer of security for users. In June, Xiaomi introduced a night vision edition of the Yi Camera, featuring a 940 nm infrared sensor for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.

Action Cameras and Smart Kitchen Appliances

The YI Action Camera created by YI Technology is a popular choice for adventure enthusiasts. Priced at CNY 399, this camera features a 16 MP Sony IMX206CQC sensor and can record videos at 1080p60 and 720p120. It is waterproof up to 40 meters with a waterproof case, making it ideal for underwater adventures. The camera’s electronic motion stabilization, integrated LCD, dual microphones, and larger battery set it apart from competitors like GoPro.

Xiaomi’s innovation extends to the kitchen with the Mi Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker launched on 29 March . This smart appliance uses 1.2 bar pressure to raise the boiling point of water to around 105°C. Users can scan the barcode on the rice packaging with their smartphones, allowing the cooker to automatically adjust its methodology based on the rice type, brand, origin, and desired softness. The companion app also includes various cooking options, making it a versatile addition to any smart kitchen.

In, Xiaomi introduced the MIJIA Smart Electric Water Heater on Youpin. With a 2200-watt capacity and a 360-liter tank, this water heater exceeds level 1 efficiency standards. It connects to the Xiaomi HyperOS ecosystem and the MIJIA app, offering off-peak scheduling and a nine-layer safety system. The magnesium anode rod lasts eight years, and the five-stage purification system ensures 99.9% sterilization and antibacterial protection.

Smart Home Kits and Personal Mobility

Xiaomi’s Smart Home Kit unveiled on 10 June includes a set of smart sensors such as the multi-function gateway, door/window sensor, motion detector, and wireless switch. These components can be combined to achieve over 30 different functions, enhancing the For example, the motion detector can be paired with the gateway to switch on a light at night when it detects motion, while the window sensors can start or stop a connected fan as windows are opened or closed.

Personal mobility is also a focus for Xiaomi, as evidenced by the Ninebot Mini self-balancing scooter, released on 19 October . This scooter, developed in partnership with Ninebot has a maximum speed of 16 km/h, a range of 22 km on a single charge, and a recharging time of three hours. Users can monitor speed, check vehicle condition, update firmware, receive theft alarms, and remotely control the vehicle via a smartphone app. The scooter can learn and adapt to users’ driving habits, making it a convenient and intelligent mode of transportation.
