In a significant move to advance shoulder arthroplasty, Advita Ortho has acquired three novel intellectual property applications from Bauer Innovations. This strategic acquisition aims to enhance the capabilities of Advita’s Equinoxe® Shoulder System particularly in treating patients with glenoid bone loss using reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA).
The newly acquired technologies are set to drive innovations in reverse shoulder arthroplasty implant design enabling the development of advanced reverse shoulder glenoid baseplates. These innovations will support orthopedic surgeons in performing revision shoulder arthroplasty improving glenoid fixation in patients with central vault defects and uncontained glenoid defects.
Enhancing Surgical Capabilities with Innovative Designs
Chris Roche, Advita’s Senior Vice President of Extremities, highlighted the significance of this acquisition. “This important acquisition will help expand Advita’s portfolio of innovative Equinoxe Shoulder System solutions, allowing us to develop a next-generation rTSA glenoid revision baseplate system that enables surgeons to treat their most difficult glenoid bone loss patients in a more efficient manner,” he said. The investment is expected to facilitate the development of a revision rTSA glenoid baseplate that can address practically any size or shape glenoid defect using an off-the-shelf component.
